An independent organisational design consultant for growing organisations: how work, decisions and accountability are arranged, and how to redesign the operating model so the organisation keeps functioning as it adds people, sites and complexity.
Independent organisational design consultant: redesign the operating model, decision rights and the way work crosses teams as your firm grows.
An operating model is the set of arrangements that turns strategy into daily work: who does what, who decides, how teams hand work to each other and how information moves. Most organisations never design theirs. It accumulates, one reasonable decision at a time, and works well enough while the business is small.
Growth exposes it. Teams that once coordinated informally start to duplicate or miss work, decisions queue up because nobody is sure who owns them, and the people who held the arrangement together by personal effort become bottlenecks. Adding headcount or restructuring the chart rarely fixes this, because the problem sits in how work crosses teams rather than in the boxes themselves.
Organisational design, in this sense, is not a reorganisation. It is a deliberate look at how the organization actually runs, and which arrangements need to change for the size it has become.
Our organizational design consulting and advice as an organizational structure consultant start from the same question: does the structure still fit the size and stage of the organisation?
Zoom Riddle’s advisory is offered worldwide. Our in-house methodology is designed to be applied to any organisation, wherever it is based, and engagements are run online.
Four things an independent organisational design consultant looks at.
Who decides what, and where decisions stall because ownership is unclear.
How handoffs, dependencies and shared processes behave under load.
Whether the current structure still fits the size and spread of the organisation.
What leaders can see of how work is really done, and how soon.
Reflections from real work on organisations growing beyond their founding design.

An operating model describes how an organisation turns its strategy into day-to-day work: the structure, roles, decision rights, processes and information flows that determine who does what and how work moves between teams.
Typically when growth makes the old arrangements strain: decisions slow down, teams duplicate or drop work, or performance depends on a few people holding things together informally.
Restructuring usually redraws reporting lines. Organizational design starts from how work and decisions actually flow, and may change processes, roles and forums as well as the structure chart.
Whoever is accountable for the outcome across those teams. Where no one is, that gap is usually the first thing a design review needs to resolve.
Look for an advisor who starts from how work and decisions actually flow, not from a template structure chart. Ask how they would find out where the arrangement is straining, and what they would leave unchanged.
Typically: understanding how work and decisions currently move, identifying where they strain, and agreeing which arrangements to change. Services can be delivered remotely, and we accept requests from organisations wherever they are located.
No. Growing firms often meet it first, because informal coordination stops working as people, sites or services are added. The earlier the operating model is looked at, the less there is to untangle.
If capable people keep running into the same delays, duplicated work or unclear ownership, the arrangement is usually the cause. A design review looks at patterns across the organisation rather than at individuals.
