Ten situations, drawn from twenty years working across organisations of different sizes, sectors and stages of growth. Each is anonymised to protect the organisations involved, and each describes what happened and what it suggests, not what another organisation facing something similar should do.
How to Read These Cases
Every case is anonymised and described by type and situation only
Organised by pattern rather than by industry
Descriptions of what happened, not prescriptions
Ten anonymised situations from twenty years working across organisations of different sizes and sectors: what happened and what it suggests.
Every organisation examined here faced different priorities, different pressures and a different business environment. Some were growing quickly, some were stabilising, and some were testing whether a new direction was worth pursuing. The case studies describe what happened and what it suggests.

No. Every case study is anonymised. Organisations are described by type and situation only, such as an established professional-services practice or an industrial manufacturer, and details that could identify them are left out.
The details differ; the coordination problems are similar. Readers frequently recognise their own situation in a case from a different sector, which is why the case studies are organised by pattern rather than by industry.
As descriptions, not prescriptions. Each describes what happened and what it suggests, so that leadership teams can recognise a similar situation in their own organisation. None is a recommended course of action.
Because the case studies describe situations rather than report results. Figures from a single organisation do not transfer to another, and publishing them would imply a commercial relationship the case studies do not claim.
